About Us

A business set up by Yanning and her husband Justin. We’ve lived in Asia, North America and Europe and we have both run our own businesses in IT and finance.

As we’ve moved around a lot we have never had huge amounts of stuff. But now we’re settled in the UK we have come to appreciate a lifestyle that we call luxury minimalism. We don’t want to buy things for the sake of it, and when we do buy something we want it to be very high quality, to last a long time and to bring us a lot of pleasure. We also want to take pleasure from the simpler things in life – to appreciate what we have and reflect on the beauty that surrounds us.

And that’s why we set up Scriveiner. To focus on beautiful items that enrich people’s lives.

Scriveiner

I am, therefore I write

An old English surname relating to the occupation of a professional scribe – someone who documents and reflects upon the world around them.

Scriveiner is about designing and producing high quality, beautiful things that enrich our everyday lives. They are designed to last a lifetime, allowing us to acquire luxury items to cherish and treasure.

We are about quality, not quantity. Timeless elegance rather than disposable fashion. And by concentrating on these values, we can help to build lifestyles that are more sustainable and that are filled with pleasure.

At Scriveiner, we design and supply beautiful, luxury pens and handmade leather journals, ideal for gifts to loved ones and ourselves. All leather journals are handmade and ethically sourced using sustainable and recycled materials wherever possible.  We believe that our most important duty is to protect the beautiful planet on which we all live. We donate a percentage of our profits to NRDC which is an organisation dedicated to fighting climate change and pollution.

Our Passion for Sustainability

We are giving back as a business and so we give a percentage of our profits to NRDC, a charity dedicated to defending our air, water, communities, and wild places.

We live on a beautiful planet. But our environment – be it rainforests in South America or Indonesia, glaciers and the ice pack in the north and south, the air that we breathe, our oceans – is under threat. Whereas 100 years ago we had little or no understanding of the wider impacts of pollution, now, there is no reason to dispute the negative impact of pollution upon our planet – no reason except a rapacious greed for corporate profits based upon business models that desperately need to be transformed or abolished.

We have selected a major charity that focuses on promoting knowledge about the scale of the dangers to the world and bringing pressure upon corporations and politicians.

In the words of NRDC:

We believe the world’s children should inherit a planet that will sustain them as it has sustained us. NRDC works to ensure the rights of all people to the air, the water and the wild, and to prevent special interests from undermining public interests.

NRDC experts use data and science to unearth the root causes of the problems that confront us. We use that information to blueprint transformative solutions, and we mobilize the support of partners, members, and activists to advocate for laws and policies that will protect our environment far into the future.

From the bustling streets of Southeast Asia to the majestic forests of North America, NRDC’s work takes us to communities across the globe—and in your backyard.
